Mariska to appear at the Nantucket Film Festival

More celebrities have been added to the line-up for the Nantucket Film Festival, which will take place June 21-26. Actor/writer/director/producer Ben Stiller (“Tropic Thunder,” “Meet the Parents”) was announced this week as the host of the 2017 Screenwriters Tribute on June 23, with awards going to Tom McCarthy (writer/director of “Spotlight”) and documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield.
Stiller, a regular at the festival, is also presenting the annual Comedy Round Table featuring Whitney Cummings (“2 Broke Girls”) and Kristen Schaal (“The Last Man on Earth”), and hosted by Pete Holmes (“Crashing”).
Mariska Hargitay (“Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”) will attend the festival with her film “I Am Evidence,” which investigates the backlog of untested evidence kits that have affected the cases of sexual assault survivors.
New events announced include readings of selections from the Screenwriters Colony: Episodic Comedy program, and the return June 20 of the pre-festival kick-off Silent Film/Live Music Event, featuring “The Freshman” from 1925, with a live score composed and performed by the Berklee School of Music in Boston; and a Shorts Program addition of “Teen View Showcase,” which will feature short films created by Nantucket High School students who have participated in the festival’s year-round filmmaking labs.
